SUMMARY:ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS - Small & Large Schools' (rescheduled event June 26)
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to invite all affiliated schools to our rescheduled GSSN Athletics Championships\, taking place on Thursday 24 September at the Prince of Wales Stadium\, Cheltenham. \nTo maximise participation and create an exciting atmosphere\, Small Schools and Large Schools will compete together throughout the day. Results\, however\, will be calculated separately for each category\, with individual medals and overall team trophies awarded to both the Small Schools and Large Schools competitions. \nThe championships will provide pupils with the opportunity to compete in a range of track and field events while representing their school in one of the highlights of the GSSN sporting calendar. \nTHE TEAMS\nThis competition is open to pupils from Years 3—6.\nIndividual track events will require 1 boy and 1 girl from each year group. Relays teams are mixed and will require 2 boys and 2 girls from each year group.\nField events will require\, 1 boy and 1 girl per year group in each of the events \nEVENT LEAD\nThe GSSN staff will be leading this event with the support of Ribston Hall High School Sport Leaders. \nEVENT FORMAT\nIN THE TRACK—For Years 3 to 6: Boys and Girls:\nHurdles\, Sprint races\, Relays (mixed gender) Year 5/6 300m\nON THE FIELD—For Year 3/4 and 5/6 (combined):Boys and Girls\nQuoit throw / Tennis Ball Throw / Speed bounce / Long jump \n Further Information\nSpectators/parents are welcome to attend. There will be a separated designated area for spectators.\nPlease can schools ensure that they arrive promptly for a 9.30 start.\nWhere event times clash\, track events will take priority over field events.\n1 boy and 1 girl per event – there is no maximum to the number of events that each pupil can take part in. 4 pupils for each relay team. 2 boys and 2 girls in each year group. Schools can include pupils from the year below – a pupil from Year 3 can run with the Year 4’s relay team.\nThe speed bounce will be for 20 seconds.\nFor throwing events pupils will be allowed 2 attempts.\nThe long Jump will be a run into the board. \nTo register your schools’ attendance\, please email bh@gssn.co.uk

SUMMARY:KS1 GIRLS THE FA ‘SHOOTING STARS’ FOOTBALL FESTIVAL
DESCRIPTION:All affiliated schools are welcome to enter multiple teams in our KS1 Girls’ Football Festival\, with no limit on the number of teams entered. \nTHE TEAMS: KS1 Girls – teams of 5 and a squad of up to 10 \nEVENT LEAD: The event will be led by GSSN along with Ribston Hall High School PE staff and their Sport Leaders. \nEVENT FORMAT: This event will be a fun introduction to football in a girl’s only environment.\nThere will be two activities running side by side. Firstly\, an area for the girls\nto practise skills\, and secondly the tournament which will take place at the\nother end of the pitch.\nThe girls will be split into mini leagues with semi- finals and finals played at the end of the\nevent.\nNo prior experience in football is needed.\nThere are no restrictions on the number of teams each school can enter. \nTo register\, email bh@gssn.co.uk

DESCRIPTION:Building on the success of last year’s event\, we are delighted to invite all affiliated schools to take part in our Boys-Only and Girls-Only Team-Building Events. \nEVENT OVERVIEW\nGirls Only: 30th September\nBoys Only: 14th October\nBoth 9.30 – 12.00\nHenley Bank High School \nTHE TEAMS\nThis event for pupils in years 4 to 6.\nEach school can bring along a squad of up to 10 pupils. \nEVENT LEAD\nHenley Bank School Staff and their Sport Leaders will be supporting the GSSN with the running of this event. \nEVENT FORMAT\nThese events are designed for small groups of pupils who would benefit from additional team-building opportunities in a supportive single-gender environment. The focus is on developing communication\, cooperation\, confidence and positive peer relationships through a range of engaging activities. Pupils who may find working with others challenging\, lack confidence in larger competitive settings\, or would benefit from quality time with peers in a positive environment are particularly encouraged to attend.\nEvents are led by trained young leaders and staff\, who deliver a selection of fun team-building challenges alongside small-sided multi-sport activities.
