SUMMARY:KEY STEPS 2 GYMNASTICS COMPETITION
DESCRIPTION:All our affiliated schools are invited to take part in our Key Steps 2 Gymnastics CompetitioN on Monday\, 2nd March at Gloucester Academy. \nTHE TEAMS\nThis competition is for students in Years 3\, and 4.\nTeams will be made up of 6 gymnasts (teams can be a mix of boys and girls).\nAll 6 gymnasts will compete\, with the top 5 scores counting toward the team score. \nSchools wishing to send a team to this event\, please email bh@gssn.co.uk. \nTeams need to be made up of children who receive no more than 1 hour of community gymnastics club coaching per week. This is not a competition for gymnasts who already receive development coaching and perform in a competitive structure outside of school. NB: The organisers will be reliant upon the professional discretion of schools to ensure is adhered to. \nNB: The organisers will be reliant upon the professional discretion of schools to ensure this is adhered to. \nEVENT LEAD \nGlen Tharia\, Headteacher of Elmbridge Primary School will be supporting the GSSN staff with the delivery of this gymnastics competition.\nOfficiating: The event will be officiated by experienced gymnastics judges recruited through the Gloucestershire Schools Gymnastics Association. \nEVENT FORMAT \nFollowing the National Framework for Gymnastics\, this competition will adopt the Key Step 2 Gymnastics criteria.\nA floor sequence and vault will be performed.\nNo body management routine will be required.\nThe vault height will be 90cms.\nSchools to provide competitors’ names prior to the competition. Email to bh@gssn.co.uk \nDue to this event being held in a school indoor space\, and as we continue to reinforce the safeguarding policies within school settings\, parents/carers as spectators are not allowed to attend the event. Thank you for your continued understanding. \nN.B Vaults may be performed with or without a springboard and may use a vaulting box or trestle table.\nThere are no extra marks for the use of a springboard. The quality of the vault and the control the gymnast has on the apparatus are the most important factors with regard to judging. It may be better for some gymnasts to perform the vault without the use of a springboard so that better control and tension can be maintained throughout the vault resulting in a higher score than would be achieved performing a vault using the springboard but having less control.

SUMMARY:MOUNTAIN BIKE COMPETITION
DESCRIPTION:We are very excited to invite our schools to take part in our Mountain Bike Competition which will take place on Thursday\, 4th June\, from 9.30-12.00 at Norton Village Hall open fields\, GL2 9LJ. \nTHE TEAMS\nThe competition is for students from Years 5 and 6.\nTeams must be made up of 4 riders with 2 boys and 2 girls making up the team. \nEVENT FORMAT\nThe competition will be run on grass. It will be based on a team relay challenge to complete a set number of laps of the designated course (approx. 800m in length). The team completing the required number of laps first will win. Each member of the team will complete a lap (in turn) and hand over to the next team member until all laps have been completed. The number of laps to be completed by each rider will be decided on the day and take into account prevailing weather conditions and the length of the course. There will also be an open entry Individual Time Trial Race (1 lap) for any team members to take part in on the day – this will be a separate competition with medals to be won in addition to the team event.\nImportant note: There will be 1 bike allocated to each school. It is important\, therefore\, that the team members are approximately the same height. This will avoid seat adjustment between riders during the team race. Whilst this is permitted\, teams that have to undertake this task will be putting themselves at a disadvantage. \nRiders can only take part in the races with the bikes provided by the organisers. \nEmail bh@gssn.co.uk to register your interest. \nLocation address:\nNorton Village Hall\nOld Tewkesbury Road\nNorton\nGloucester\nGL2 9LJ \nhttps://www.nortonvillagehall.co.uk/contact-us/
