DESCRIPTION:All Affiliated Schools are invited to the Athletics Championships which will take place at the Prince of Wales Stadium in Cheltenham. \nEVENT OVERVIEW\nSmall Schools’ Event: Wednesday 24th June\nLarge Schools’ Event: Thursday 25th June\nBoth events will start at 9.30\, and finish by 14.00 \nTHE TEAMS\nThis competition is open to pupils from Years 2—6.\nIndividual track events will require 1 boy and 1 girl from each year group. Relays teams are mixed and will require 2 boys and 2 girls from each year group.\nField events will require\, 1 boy and 1 girl per category in each of the events. \nEVENT LEAD \nThe GSSN staff will be leading this event with the support of Denmark Road High School Sport Leaders. \n\nEVENT FORMAT \nIN THE TRACK—For Years 2 to 6 – Boys and Girls:\nHurdles\, Sprint races\, Relays (mixed gender) Year 5/6 300m\, & 400m\nON THE FIELD—For Years 2\, 3/4 and 5/6 (combined) – Boys and Girls:\nQuoit throw / Tennis ball throw / Speed bounce / Long jump \n Further Information\n Spectators/parents are welcome to attend and stay to support schools – To enforce school’s safeguarding policies\, there will be separate designated areas for schools and parents.\n Please can schools ensure that they arrive promptly for a 9.30 start.\n Track events will always take priority over field events.\n 1 boy and 1 girl per event – there is no maximum to the number of events that each pupil can take part in. 4 pupils for each relay team. 2 boys and 2 girls in each year group. Groups should be made of up to 30 pupils from KS1 including Reception. \nThe Festival Format\nThere will be 8 different multi-skills stations based on the EYFS basics of target throwing\, balancing\, coordination\, and agility aimed at all abilities.  \nSecondary School Sport Leaders will lead the activity stations along with GSSN staff. \nPupils must be accompanied by a member of staff and should bring along a drink and of course wear sports kit.
