KS1 SPORTSHALL ATHLETICS FESTIVAL

Schools are invited to take part in our first Key Stage 1 – Sportshall Athletics Competition.
EVENT OVERVIEW
Date: WEDNESDAY 19th January
Times: 9.30– 12.00
Sportshall at The Crypt School
THE TEAMS
This competition is open to boys and girls in years 1 and 2.
Squads: MiXED TEAS OF 10, 5 BOYS AND 5 GIRLS.
EVENT LEAD
GSSN staff with the running of the event with the support of The Crypt School Sport leaders.
EVENT FORMAT
Sportshall Primary provides the ideal format in which to introduce young people to grassroots athletics and multi-skills competition in a fun team based format.
All children will take part in each of the following field events, this will be on a carousel rotation:
1. Push pass
2. Soft Javelin Throw
3. Standing Long Jump
4. Triple Jump
5. Tunnels
6. Speed Bounce
7. High Stepper
8. Vertical Jump
9. Hurdles
10. Relay passing
Following this, there will be a series of obstacle relay races, each with 5 boys and 5 girls.
