Connecting Schools, Inspiring School Sport Participation, Creating Opportunities.
At Gloucester School Sport Network (GSSN), our mission is to provide high-quality sporting opportunities that inspire young people to be active, develop confidence, and enjoy positive experiences through physical activity.
During the 2025–26 academic year, thousands of children and young people from across Gloucester engaged in our programme of festivals, competitions, leadership opportunities, and participation events.
Primary School Impact
Our primary programme continues to provide a broad range of inclusive opportunities for children of all abilities, focusing on enjoyment, participation, personal development, and competition.
- 12,000+ pupil participations across GSSN events
- 1,434 SEND pupils engaged across 15 SEND-specific events
- 7,284 Girls engaged in our programme
- 34 primary schools engaged
- 70+ sporting events and festivals delivered
- Opportunities ranging from participation festivals to competitive pathways
- Inclusive events designed to ensure every child has the chance to represent their school
- Development of confidence, teamwork, resilience, leadership, and physical literacy
Through our primary programme, thousands of young people experienced the benefits of being active, representing their school, and enjoying positive sporting experiences alongside their peers.
Secondary School Impact
Our secondary programme offers young people opportunities to compete, lead, volunteer, and remain engaged in sport throughout their school journey.
- 2,000+ pupil participations across GSSN events
- 19 secondary schools engaged (including SEND-Specific schools)
- Extensive programme of competitions, festivals, leadership and enrichment opportunities
- Development of young leaders, officials, volunteers, and role models
- Opportunities for students to represent their school at local and county level
- Increased engagement in physical activity beyond curriculum time
Secondary events help young people develop confidence, responsibility, teamwork, communication skills, and lifelong positive attitudes towards physical activity.
